South Portland, Maine " Fairchild Semiconductor International's additions to its NC7 series of TinyLogic family feature Ultra Low Power consumption. The NC7SV19, a 1-of-2 Decoder/Demultiplexer, is designed specifically for high speed flash memory selection while operating from low operating voltage, dramatic power savings and minimal space requirements.
Three dual buffers and inverters with and without Schmitt trigger inputs greatly ease the connectivity of new feature functions, an especially important design consideration in accommodating convergent trends in cell phones, PDAs, notebooks, digital cameras and other portable devices.
The new NC7SV and NC7WV series devices offer significant performance value for portable designers. For example, the NC7SV19 1-of-2 Decoder/Demultiplexer offers typical propagation delay of 3 nanoseconds at 1.65V " 1.95V, performance that was available in earlier version at 2.5V and higher. The NC7WV and NC7WP series dual buffers and inverters combine high performance, low (battery) voltage operation and choice of packaging, including 6-lead SC70 and a chip-scale MicroPak (which requires only 1.5mm).
The NC7SV19's fast propagation delay is specified to meet fast memory access, a critical need in cell phones"and will operate from 3.6V down to 0.9V. The NC7SV19's CMOS design supports longer battery operating time by consuming 30 percent less power than standard LCX single-gate components. Depending on the logic state (high or low) applied to the device's dual inputs, the function provides a chip-select level to either or both outputs. Replacing three individual components (two OR gates and an inverter) with a single device, the NC7SV19 provides a maximum of functionality in a single 6-terminal IC.
The NC7WV and NC7WP Ultra Low Power series dual bit buffers and inverter facilitate near seamless additions of new features to cell phones and ultra portables, maximizing design options in accommodating convergent trends. NC7WV series devices provide typical propagation delays of only 2ns at 2.5V (3ns at 1.8V), thus meeting critical timing budgets, even at low operating voltages. Designed for 30-50 percent less power consumption than LCX and similar technologies, the devices provide overvoltage protection of up to 4.6V for an operational voltage range of 0.9-3.6V.
