Cary, N.C. MTS Sensors has developed a new line of magnetostrictive sensors for fluid level and position measurement in medical equipment such as infusion pumps, hospital beds, dental chairs, and assistive care or mobility equipment.
The no-wear, non-contact magnetostrictive technology has proven to be the most accurate and reliable method for measurement with reliability exceeding that of potentiometers or other sensor technologies, according to the company.
The medical sensors are available in standard active stroke lengths of 72 to 250 mm. Temperature acceptability ranges from 0°C to 85°C for an IP65 rated model and -40°C to 105°C for IP67. They're available in a variety of outputs including analog and PWM, and are compatible with nearly all controller systems. Through automated assembly processes, these components are 100% quality tested. Custom designs are available.
The sensors are available on-line at the MTS Store. The sensors will be priced at $35 each in quantities of 2,500, starting before July 2004. Delivery is approximately two weeks for standard products.
