Elkton, Md. W.L. Gore & Associates Inc. will exhibit several new products including the new GORE EYE-OPENER ZD cable assembly and GORE SPEEDBOARD C prepreg with FR4 at DesignCon 2004, Feb. 3-4, in Booth 807.
The new cable assembly for the ZD backplane interface combines Gore's high data rate digital cable assembly technology with the high-speed ZD connector to offer an interconnect solution that delivers high signal fidelity and reliability at bandwidths of 5 Gbit/s and higher.
The GORE EYE-OPENER ZD cable assembly uses expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) as the dielectric core for the digital interconnect cable. This helically wrapped ePTFE core ensures controlled electrical properties throughout the signal path. The company said its smaller diameter and minimum bend radius, combined with the low dielectric constant materials, allows more signal lines per area and delivers higher bandwidth performance more consistently than other comparable cable configurations.
By optimizing key characteristics such as signal loss, cross talk, skew, capacitance and impedance, the company said the ZD cable assembly provides the most open eye patterns available at this density and data rate.
The GORE SPEEDBOARD C prepreg combined with FR4 offers a hybrid stripline solution with improvements in cross talk and insertion loss performance at gigabit data rates. For more information, Gore will present a technical paper presentation called "Performance benefit of mixed dielectric stripline" on Tuesday, February 3, at DesignCon 2004.
The GORE EYE-OPENER ZD cable assembly (4 x 10 array, 40 differential lines, 1 meter long) is priced as low as $5.00 per line in standard configurations.
