San Diego, Calif. The new PG0085/PG0086 power inductors from Pulse, a Technitrol Company, pack a high current rating and high energy storage density in a small footprint.
The shielded drum core surface-mount inductors, measuring 4.1 x 4.1 x 1.8 mm, offer a high-energy storage density of 200 nanojoules per cubic millimeter typical and a high current rating up to 1.5 amps. The high storage density, in a small package, makes them suitable for dc-to-dc conversion. These can be used in a variety of portable electronic devices such digital cameras, mobile phones, notebook computers and PDAs.
Other key parameters include an inductance value range from 0.07 μH to 3,500 μH, low direct current resistance (DCR), a typical Q factor, and a self-resonating frequency (SRF) of more than 40 MHz. The expanded operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 130°C, which make the inductors suitable for elevated system ambient temperature.
Enabling higher current performance in portable applications, this series is capable of saturation currents of 1.5A direct current (ADC) and heating currents up to 3.0 ADC. The new inductors, available in 25 standard models, are offered in custom designs.
Available in tape-and-reel packaging with 2,850 units per reel, prices start at $0.18 each in quantities of 50,000. Prices vary depending on configuration and shipping destination. Delivery is four to six weeks.
