Schaumburg, Ill. To strengthen its China operations and improve customer support in the region, Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd. will expand its manufacturing and market presence in China through a concurrent two-phase expansion program. The company plans to invest $30 million to build a new inductor manufacturing plant in Tianjin and expand its multilayer ceramic capacitor production facility in Guang Dong.
Taiyo Yuden (Guang Dong) Co., Ltd. will start mass production of its high-capacity, 0603 case size multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) in April 2004. The facility currently produces 0402 MLCCs and multilayer chip inductors at the plant.
The second phase of the program will be implemented in June 2004 when the new manufacturing plant in Tianjin becomes operational. Taiyo Yuden (Tianjin) Electronics Co. Ltd., a new 322,000-sq. ft. manufacturing plant, will take over the production of wound chip inductors, axial-leaded inductors and ferrite beads, following the recent transfer of manufacturing operations from Korea.
