Camarillo, Calif. - Power One's third series of point-of-load products, their Y Series of Nex Family (non-isolated)
DC/DC converters, tout the industry's highest power density at 500 W/in3 for an industry-standard package and pinout. The 20-amp YNC products, from di/dt, a Power-One company, are available in two versions optimized for the nominal 5- and 12-volt intermediate bus architecture (IBA).
This Nex family is designed to combine an industry-standard footprint (1.3 by 0.53 by 0.314 inches) and trim equations with enhanced features and improved electrical and thermal performance. These SMD products provide programmable outputs from 0.75 to 5.5 VDC, facilitating the use of one part number for multiple applications. Power-One says they provide superior thermal performance. The 12V-input version delivers 3.3 volts at up to 17 amps at 70° C (200 LFM airflow). Other features include remote on/off, output voltage adjust pin, remote sense, no minimum load requirements, start-up into pre-biased outputs to facilitate sequencing, input under-voltage lockout, thermal shutdown, and over-current protection.
The YNC products are priced at $16 each in 1k quantities.
Samples and production quantities are available now. The converters are shipped in tape-and-reel packing to facilitate automatic handling and pick-and-place assembly.
