1 to 300 MHz Dual Frequency Synthesizer on PCI Board for Tones, Sweeps, Phase Shifts and Modulations
Orinda, CA---Furaxa Inc. announces the first Dual 1-300 MHz frequency synthesizers with automatic sweep and modulation capabilities for under $2000. The Synth300S and Synth300D are single and dual-channel Direct Digital Synthesizers (DDS) PCI cards with one or two independent DDSs, each is separately programmable for frequencies between 1MHz and 300MHz in increments of ~0.223 Hz. In addition to single or dual tone generation (500mV into 50 ohms), the SYNTH300 series can be used to generate frequency swept signals with user-defined sweep rates. Also, by utilizing the 4 independent user-defined frequency/phase profiles associated with each synthesizer, frequency and/or phase modulated waveforms (FSK, PSK) can be generated and controlled by software or external hardware.
Each synthesizer can hold up to 4 independent frequency/phase profiles. By switching between user-defined profiles, phase and/or frequency can be quickly changed. Profile switching can be accomplished via host system software control or by external TTL frequency/phase profile switching inputs for applications in which the overhead or uncertainty of software controlled frequency/phase profile selection is not acceptable. Two TTL input signals permit low-latency external switching between profiles on both synthesizer channels, and when controlled by these TTL inputs, profile switching can be accomplished in ~8 nanoseconds.
Designed for low jitter operation in communications, industrial, military/aerospace and scientific applications, the Synth300 is a basic tool that will be used in a variety of ways including:
* RF component test to verify the operation of phase and frequency detection devices
* ADC, Data acquisition system or oscilloscope clocking where a customized timebase is required for a specific measurement
* Time Vernier measurements where the two frequencies generated slide past each other very slowly; used to track the phase response of a device under test
* Determining the effect of oscillator drift on a circuit during design
* Examining the spectral response of circuits, devices or materials
* Low cost manufacturing test/QA instrument with multiple synthesizers in a host computer
Running the Synth300 is simple, with command line entries for tone generation, frequency hopping, phase shifting, frequency sweeping and external modulation. For example, entering "synth -f8000000 -g9500000" will cause the synthesizer's two channels to output 8 and 9.5MHz waveforms. For more complex waveforms, such as modulated signals, sample C programs may be edited and recompiled using most common C compilers.
The affordable Synth300 has the power of much more expensive test equipment. Synth300S Single Synthesizer is priced at $1495 each and Synth300D Dual Synthesizer is priced at $1995 each. Delivery is 30 days A.R.O. Quantity discounts are available.
Both models include a PCI Bus card (5 watts), sample programs, in both executable and source form, and drivers for the most popular PCI system platforms including Windows 2000, XP, Linux (Red Hat 7.2 or 9.0), or Solaris 8 or 9 (Sparc Platform Edition).
