San Diego, Calif. The new PG0155 series of low profile, surface mount (SMT) power inductors from Pulse, a Technitrol Company, provides thermal tolerances up to 150°C, with no thermal aging, making it suitable for notebook CPU applications.
The PG0155 series can also be used for voltage regulator modules (VRMs), point of load (POL) systems, distributed power architecture (DPA), dc/dc converters, high-speed servers and workstations, telecom switching networks, routers, and base station equipment.
Packaged in an 11 x 10.4-mm (max) footprint, with a low profile 3.7 mm (max), the PG0155 inductors feature a flat wire coil that provides for higher current ratings in a low profile package. The inductors offer a current rating up to 24 amps with an inductance range of 0.30 to 2.30μH. The DC resistance ranges between 2.2 to 16.5 milliohms.
The series incorporates self-terminating lead technology to increase reliability and reduce cost. The company said the PG0155 series uses a high-end powdered iron core material, which provides extremely stable thermal performance at elevated temperatures, elimination of thermal aging, higher operating temperature, and a higher level of reliability than available with other inductors in the same package.
Supplied in tape-and-reel packaging, inductor prices average $0.30 per unit for quantities above 100,000 units. Prices vary depending on volume, configuration and shipping destination. RoHS compliant parts are available on request.
