Lowell, Mass. M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, offers a new lead-free, low-loss SPDT GaAs switch for the transmit/receive function in 802.11b WLAN applications and low power general-purpose RF applications.
Available in a small SOT-363 (6-lead SC-70) package, the MASWSS0115 may be used for other low and medium power
switching applications from DC to 3 GHz, including low power handset and base station applications that require low insertion loss, excellent return loss and low cost, said the company. The new device provides switching of the RF common port between two additional RF ports.
The MASWSS0115 switch is a lead-free version of the company's low cost SW-485, also available in a SOT-363 package. Both switches offer a low loss of 0.35 dB at 2.4 GHz and excellent linearity at 20 dBm input power. They also work with positive control voltages as low as 2.3 volts, and provide excellent VSWR (1.1:1 typical), and good isolation of less than 20 dB.
Available on 3,000 piece reels, the MASWSS0115 is priced at less than $0.18 each in quantities of 50,000. The switch and corresponding sample test boards are available for immediate delivery from M/A-COM's direct field sales force and authorized distributors.
