Ledgewood, N.J. Bomar Interconnect Products Inc. has added a miniature BNC connector to the company's proprietary line of V-Bite RF edgeboard connectors that are designed to provide "unparalleled" signal integrity in RF applications. The V-Series line includes a F-Type, a threaded through-panel BNC, twin BNC, standard BNC, and TNC version, along with the new miniature BNC.
The company said the unique engineering of the V-Series ensures superior anti-rotation capabilities, reliability, and stability as connectors snap and lock in place for secure PC-board retention during hand or reflow soldering, and are supported above and below the board to minimize stress on the solder area.
The new V-Bite connectors are available in both 50Ω and 75Ω versions. The 50 W connectors are rated for use in applications operating up to 500 MHz, and typically yield low reflection through 1 GHz. For applications where true 75Ω performance is required to ensure low signal distortion, the 75Ω connectors offer low VSWR through 3 GHz. Devices are intermateable.
All V-Bite connectors are manufactured of machined brass, and use a straight-through contact design to provide an extremely low reflection factor with a return loss of -40 dB at 2.3 GHz. They also meet all industry standards, and are provided with a Teflon dielectric to facilitate reflow soldering.
Offering the industry's lowest profile, the small footprint (1/2 the devices' diameter) of the quick connect/disconnect connectors require 1/3 less PC-board space than their standard counterparts. They are typically specified for PC-boards in telecommunications, video/broadcast and audio equipment and are suitable for terminating miniature to subminiature coaxial cables in a variety of high-density RF designs.
The V-Bite connectors may be ordered in various standard and custom mechanical configurations.
The miniature BNC connectors are priced at $2.38 each in quantities of 1,000. Delivery is from stock to 12 weeks.
