Board maker SBS Technologies (Albuquerque, New Mexico), a provider of embedded computers, introduces its Maxim 921-DS, a single-site PMC (PCI mezzanine card) module for full-duplex channelized DS3 connectivity.
The company says its latest telecommunications product is designed for data applications requiring high-density connectivity using up to 28 T1 lines, multiple DSOs (up to 672) in clear channel, fractional, and channelized DS3 applications.
These applications include routers, switches, wireless broadband gateways, and multi-service gateways. SBS Technologies says its card will be especially effective with demanding applications such as edge routing and aggregation.
The scalable Maxim 921-DS DS3 lets developers use all 672 available DS0 channels with full channelization. Previous approaches haven't offered this level of scalability.
The Maxim 921-DS offers connectivity at 44.736-Mbits/s, and features a 32-bit/64-bit 33-MHz/66-MHz PCI interface. It also includes front-panel and rear-panel I/O options. The card is also designed to minimize host intervention and maximize bus bandwidth.
SBS Technologies is supporting its Maxim 921-DS with Linux, VxWorks, and Windows XP drivers. An included SBS modular driver development kit (DDK) also will let you take advantage of driver portability across the entire SBS WAN product line.
