Ultra low-power, non-volatile programmable logic devices combine performance, density, and embedded SRAM in small form factor packaging
QuickLogic Corporation announced the production availability of two additional members of the Eclipse II Watt FPGA family, the QL8025 and QL8050. The QL8025 has 47K logic gates and the QL8050 has 64K logic gates. Both devices include embedded dual-port SRAM and extended I/O support that allows the integration of several board level components into a single chip.
"With the production release of the QL8025 and QL8050, QuickLogic continues its leadership position in low-power logic solutions by demonstrating dynamic power reduction of nearly 50% over CPLDs of comparable density shipping today," said Brian Faith, QuickLogic's Director of Logic Products.
The Eclipse II family offers multiple alternatives to FPGA, CPLD, DSP and ASIC engineers who are designing applications that demand ultra-low power consumption, small form factor packaging, and high design security from IP theft and reverse engineering. All these benefits are provided by QuickLogic's patented ViaLink" technology. The Eclipse II family of devices has much lower power consumption than other technologies, with dynamic power dissipation of less than 50mW at 100MHz.
Targeted applications include any battery-powered or heat-sensitive products including portable handheld products such as PDAs, barcode readers, and handheld scanners and gaming modules. Other applications include portable medical equipment and wireless add-on products.
Software and Intellectual Property Support
The Eclipse II FPGA family is supported in QuickWorks version 9.6 and is available for download from www.quicklogic.com/software_download. QuickLogic offers Intellectual Property blocks targeted for Eclipse II FPGAs such as PCI, memory interfaces, SDRAM, DSP and other commonly used peripheral functions.
