MathStar announces the availability of its revolutionary new Field Programmable Object Array (FPOATM) for customer demonstration. MathStar's FPOA family offers an unprecedented combination of a deterministic clock (up to 1 GHz), low recurring costs, off-the shelf programmability, and no mask costs. These high-performance FPOA chips (based on MathStar's proprietary Silicon ObjectTM technology) are designed for use in a wide variety of high performance networking and digital signal processing applications. FPOAs offer a phenomenal solution to companies struggling with the high development costs of ASICs and the performance limitations of conventional FPGA architectures.
The first FPOA devices have 400 1 GHz Silicon Objects, resulting in a device with 400 Giga Operations of performance. MathStar can demonstrate the ability to achieve the performance, density, and flexibility as expected. Customers can take full advantage of the performance of 130nm technology without having to pay the high cost of semi-custom development.
MathStar is making its first two products in the FPOA product line available for demonstration and early customer evaluation. They are the first in a series of application driven solutions for today's system needs. Both of the devices are supported by a complete development tool suite based on SystemC and by a development environment that customers can use to implement their unique algorithms. General customer availability is scheduled for Q3.
