Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. says it's the only manufacturer to offer a 0.01% ratio tolerance as a standard product feature for low-profile resistor arrays. The new PR series of high-precision, thin-film resistor arrays are available in 1206, 0805, and 0603 case sizes with a low profile of 0.4 mm.
Matched resistor networks in the PR series include two to eight resistors that are precision-matched to a 0.01% ratio tolerance in comparison to a ratio tolerance of 0.05% in competing devices, says the company. Featuring a highly stable TAMELOX (passivated nichrome) resistive layer, the PR series resistor arrays are specified for an absolute temperature coefficient ratio (TCR) of 10 ppm/°C and TCR tracking of 2 ppm/°C, or down to 1 ppm/°C on request. The devices also offer very low noise of less than -30 dB and voltage coefficients of less than 0.1 ppm/V.
The Vishay thin-film PR 100 device is packaged in a 1.6-mm-wide case with a 1-mm pitch. It's rated for a resistance range of 100 Ω to 200 kΩ and a working voltage of 35 V. In a 1.85-mm wide case, the PR 135 features a 1.35-mm pitch, a resistance range of 100 Ω to 300 kΩ, and a working voltage of 75 V. The PR 182 occupies a 3-mm wide case with a 1.82-mm pitch and is rated for a resistance range of 100 Ω to 1 MΩ and a working voltage of 100 V. All three products feature a power rating of 100 mW per resistor at 70°C, an operating temperature range of -55 °C to 155°C, and pre-tinned terminations over a nickel barrier.
The new resistor arrays serve as compact replacements for larger package devices, which use wirewound or hermetic packaging, in instrumentation amplifiers, precision voltage dividers, bridge network circuitry, and all other products requiring a matched pair or set of resistor elements.
Available in waffle pack or tape-and-reel packaging, the PR devices are priced at $2.38 per 500 pieces for U.S. delivery. Samples are available. Delivery is ten weeks for production orders.
