Bridgewater, N.J. Expanding its family of LIGHTINCURE spot light sources, Hamamatsu Corp. has introduced its compact and economical LC3 and LC4 versions for any number of manufacturing applications including UV curing of medical supplies, optical parts and fiber optic connectors. They can also be used for SMD bonding, HGA assembly, and sealing of liquid crystal and other electronic parts.
The LC4 UV spot light source offers a high output of typically 3500 mW/cm² at 365 nm and low power consumption of typically 280 VA. It also provides a long lamp life of 3,000 hours. Measuring 311 (D) x 13.7 (W) x 226 mm (H), the LC4 is small enough so that multiple units can easily fit on the production floor.
The lightweight paperback book size (120 D x 120 W x 200 mm (H) of the LC3 UV-visible light source makes it suitable as a light source in photocatalyst and optical excitation applications at both the research and development and production stages. The LC3 has intensity of the 500 mW/cm² at 365 nm and 570 mW/cm² at 436 nm. It only requires 50 VA power for operation.
Both the LC3 and LC4 allow the light output to be set by the user, with the timer setting adjustable from 2 to 60 seconds and the output intensity ranging from 0 to 100%. They feature a high durability shutter with a "silent" mechanism that delivers a service life five times longer than conventional shutters, according to the company.
The LC3 is priced at $2,169.00 and the LC4 is $3,037.00 in small quantities. Delivery for samples is four to six weeks.
