San Jose, Calif. -- ZiLOG, Inc. has begun to offer an embedded network security kit for its eZ80Acclaim! family of 8-bit flash microcontrollers. The complete kit enables design engineers to develop embedded networking applications over any TCP/IP network that requires secured data transmission using SSL (Secured Socket Layer) technology.
The Embedded Network Security Kit includes ZTP, ZiLOG's TCP/IP protocol stack software suite integrated with a preemptive multitasking RTOS and optimized for embedded systems. ZTP works in harmony with all eZ80Acclaim! Devices. The eZ80Acclaim! products feature on-chip flash memory, network connectivity peripherals, as well as 50MHz performance targeting a wide range of applications such as industrial control, automation, IP appliances, point-of-sale terminals and security systems. Furthermore, ZiLOG's development kits are modular by design, and are compatible with various ZiLOG Modular Development System (MDS) application boards. This offers customers the benefit of easy migration between devices.
The eZ80Acclaim! Embedded Network Security Kit is comprised of the eZ80F91 modular development kit with the added SSL software to support secured data transmission using industry compliant encryption technology.
"In addition to providing standard TCP/IP features in their end products, our customers can now rapidly develop, prototype and bring to market embedded networking applications specifically requiring secured transmission of sensitive data such as credit card transactions on POS terminals or vending machines, or critical command and control functions of networked industrial equipment," said Ramesh Ramchandani, ZiLOG's senior vice president of marketing.
The addition of the SSL security feature for eZ80Acclaim! flash microcontrollers also brings significant cost savings to our customers," Ramchandani explained. "Until now, developing applications using SSL would typically require 32-bit processing power, which can prove expensive. Our high performance eZ80Acclaim! products, when used together with the highly optimized SSL solution offered in the development kit, make SSL possible in 8-bit applications without the high cost and complexity of 32-bit designs. The result is secured data transmission for any TCP/IP application over private or public networks at a lower system cost."
The US version of the Embedded Network Security Kit (Part # eZ80F910SSLKIT) is available now. An International version (Part # eZ80F911SSLKIT) will follow immediately. Both kits are priced at $US 450.00. Full product details and ordering information can be found at zilog.com
