Malvern, Pa. Developed for applications where space is at a premium, a new ESD protection array from Vishay Intertechnology Inc. integrates an EMI filter in a leadless LLP75 package. The new GTF701-HS3-GS08 two-channel EMI filter, which measures 1.6 x 1.6 x 0.7-mm, is designed to provide both EMI and bi-directional ESD protection for compact products including mobile phone handsets, laptop computers, PDAs, digital cameras, modems, GPS devices, and two-way pagers.
In addition, the new Vishay Semiconductors device provides very good electrical performance, said the company. It features a low insertion loss of -4 dB over a range from 1 MHz to 10 MHz, a low maximum reverse stand-off voltage of 5 V, low reverse leakage current, and low clamping voltage, which is a maximum of 15 V (5 A, 8/20 μs). Good attenuation of high-frequency signals is ensured with transmission values of -10 dB for signals between 100 MHz and 3000 MHz. The standard operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C.
The diode array provides transient protection for two data lines, meeting Level 4 IEC 61000-4-2 ESD specifications for 15 kV (air) and 8 kV (contact), as well as IEC 61000-4-5 lightning specification of 5 A. Built on thin-film-on-silicon technology, this device is specified for a UL 94 V-0 molding compound flammability rating, and high-temperature soldering up to 260°C.
