Chicago, Ill. Stratos Lightwave LLC is has launched several new rack-mount packaging options for its Tsunami brand of coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) optical components and modules. Offered in both industry-standard 19-inch as well as LGX-compatible racks, these packaging options make it easier to integrate the CWDM devices into existing installations of high-performance communications systems.
The company said CWDM products are typically deployed along side of conventional optical transceivers, such as GBICs or SFPs, to increase the bandwidth of existing cable infrastructures in metro and access optical communications networks. The problem is because of the extremely small size of CWDM components that users are typically required to configure and assemble the necessary hardware to mount these compact sub-systems into the standard racks. The availability of the new packaging options will eliminate this issue, said the company.
Stratos' Tsunami CWDM muxes, demuxes, and OADMs can now be optioned for either 19-inch or LGX-compatible racks, including Tsunami MetroChannel and MiniMetro modules. The 19-inch packaging option is available in a unique ½-RU size, which offers twice the density of the standard 1-RU box. Both the 19-inch and LGX packaging options are available with industry-standard SC or LC fiber optic connectors and provide very low link loss. Other connector types are available upon special request.
Pricing for the new Tsunami packaging options vary according to the type of rack, number of optical channels and quantity purchased. Approximate pricing is $125 to $165 per port. Delivery ranges from stock to five weeks.
