Smyrna, Ga. Providing filtering in the GHz frequency range, a new surface-mount ferrite bead series from Murata Electronics features low DC resistance (DCR) and high current ratings, which makes them suitable for power line applications, I/O lines, computer interface lines, high-speed bus lines and compact digital equipment.
In addition to providing noise suppression in the GHz range, the low DCR characteristics of the BLM15E ferrite beads minimize power consumption, which can significantly improve battery life for mobile and portable equipment, said the company.
"While Murata currently has 0402 ferrite beads capable of filtering in the GHz range, what is unique about the BLM15E series is that the low DC resistance and high current ratings make them suitable for power line applications," stated Deryl Kimbro, EMI filter product manager for Murata.
Samples of the lead-free BLM15E are currently available at $0.09 per unit. Delivery is six to eight weeks.
