Santa Ana, Calif. Coil Winding Specialist (CWS) claims its new CWS-5 series of high current, surface-mount inductors offer the highest current rated parts in the industry in a small package size of 0.52 in. x 0.52 in. with a height of 0.21 inches.
The CWS-5321B (40A), CWS-5322B (50A), CWS-5291B (60A), and CWS-5292A (80A) inductors are wound using thick flat helix wire on high flux and MPP (Molypermalloy) powder cores with distributed air gaps to achieve minimum core loss and high efficiency, as well as reduce DC resistance (DCR) and parasitic inductance. The helical flat coil also reduces skin effects and thereby lowers AC resistance. The proprietary 2.4-mm wide flat coil windings are insulated with 250°C kapton material.
The new devices are available in an inductance range of 0.3 μH to 2.0 μH+. The maximum DCR is 0.4 to 2.1 mΩ, which results in very low power loss rating. Custom designs for other inductance values and current ratings are available. The operating temperature rating of CWS-5 series is -55°C to 125°C.
The saturation flux density of these inductors is more than 10,000 gauss (1,000 mT), and can withstand large voltage swings. These inductors feature co-planar SMT pre-tinned 0.10 in. leads for direct soldering to the PC-board. They are available in bulk pack or tape and reel packaging. Applications include planar output chokes and planar inductors in dc/dc converters and ac/dc power supplies.
Pricing is $0.95 in quantities of 10,000. Free samples are available for large OEMs. Delivery is from stock to two weeks.
