Even the squirrels know to prepare for winter. Creatures seem to have a sense about them to know when to dig in, and when to venture out.
Like creatures reacting to changing seasons, companies also react to changing climates. There are times to venture out, experiment, explore, and try new things. Then, there are times to stay securely nestled into the niches you have tediously carved out and weather the storms.
This month we see how companies are digging. Some are forging and strengthening relationships with IP makers and foundries. Others are leveraging the strong points of their products to carve out deep and specific niches.
We see this month that Lattice made good on it's timely intent to bring out their EC and EC DSP parts. Fruits of the joint venture with Fujitsu are paying off.
Also, QuickLogic forges a strategic alliance with Renesas to get a strong foothold in WiFi thanks to their effective low power solutions. We are finally seeing peripheral chips with vast amounts of generic logic.
Narrowly focused but important none-the-less is how Actel is rounding out its IP portfolio with an ARINC 429 IP Core for Avionics Systems Designers.
We also see that analog FPGAs are pushing hard to get wide spread acceptance and use as Anadigm doubles the density of its parts and lowers the cost even more.
Activities in briefs section worth checking out too.
Like squirrels, many of us have to spend the winter with a bunch of nuts. Stay warm.
