CWS offers a state-of-the-art Filter Inductor Series E70340-XXX with excellent performance. The inductors with a helical winding on HighFlux powder core construction offer a rated current of 150A.
The inductor can achieve up to 60% more energy storage, up to 5 mJ. CWS use a Flat Helix winding to reduce DCR, lower copper loss, reduce size, even out heat dissipation and achieve up to 80% of copper fill factor. The DCR is 0.85 milli-ohms max. The tested High Pot for winding to core isolation is 1000VDC. The inductance is 9.5 H ±10% measured at 10 KHz, 0.25V, Zero AC Bias. Dimensions are 43.2 x 42 mm with a height of 28.5 mm.
CWS can gap the sendust core to follow customer specifications, for example to make 7.2 µH ±10% would be no problem. As the DCR is very low, the expected loss is also very low. The total expected loss for the IsqR = 3.59W and from the core is less than 1W. So, the max total loss is a max of 4.5W. Operating temperature is -55 °C to 150 °C. Since a sendust core is used, the max temperature can be as high as 200 °C. No aging problem, not much variation due to temperature change.
The series is designed for commercial, industrial and military application with inductance values from 1µH to 80µH. Especially for welding maschine manufacturers, CWS offers current rating up to 250A. Helix coils are self supported with no bobbins or coil forms, so low cost mass production is no problem with this design.
