Designed specifically for front-end selectivity in transmitter (Tx) or receiver (Rx) remote keyless entry (RKE) applications, the new series of SAW (surface acoustic wave) filters from NDK (Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd.) are housed in a miniature 3.8 x 3.8 mm hermetically sealed ceramic SMD package with a maximum height of 1.2 mm.
These SAW filters are available in three popular center frequencies. These include 315 MHz (WF866B0315CH), 433.92 MHz (WF866A0433CH), and 868.35 MHz (WF873A0868CK), which make them suitable for Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Industrial Science Medical (ISM), or Short Range Device (SRD) applications. The new devices provide a low minimum insertion loss of 2.5 to 3.0 dB typical, which improves efficiency. The company also said the devices exhibit excellent out-band rejection to protect radio signals.
In addition, the SAW filters are extremely stable over their operating temperature range, said the company. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C for the WF866B0315CH, -40°C to 105°C for the WF866A0433CH, and -40°C to 85°C for the WF873A0868CK.
Meeting rigorous automotive environmental requirements, these devices may be used in automotive keyless entries or immobilizers as well as in building security systems.
The WF866A0433CH device, packaged on tape and reel, is priced at approximately $1.00 each in quantities of 10,000. Delivery is 12 weeks. Qualified engineering samples may be ordered at no cost.
