Providing automotive design engineers with significant noise reduction in digital circuits up to 5 GHz, AVX Corp. has developed a new series of feedthru filters for data lines in automotive entertainment systems. Designated the W2F4 and W3F4 series, the feedthru arrays contain four elements with a common ground connection, making them suitable for multi-line designs. The multi-element array package also provides a board space savings, reduced component count and lower placement costs.
The W2F4/W3F4 series is available in voltage ratings of 25 V, 50 V and 100 V and offer a current rating of 300 mA. The devices feature DC resistance ratings of <0.6 ohms and exhibit NPO and X7R temperature characteristics. The standard operating temperature range is -55°C to 125°C.
Available in a 4-element 0508 and 0612 feedthru array packages, applications for the W2F4/W3F4 series filters include data lines to dashboard and diagnostic units, as well as on RGB lines to LCD displays within entertainment centers such as DVD players and GPS units.
The company touts that the unique construction of the W2F4/W3F4 Series provides low parallel inductance and offers excellent broadband EMI attenuation for all circuitry that must meet SAE, FCC and IEC EMC requirements. As a result, they can be used to meet MIL-STD-461E and SAE radiated and conducted emission requirements. They are suitable for applications that require EMI suppression, broadband I/O filtering, LCD filtering, digital to RF interface filtering and VCC power line conditioning.
Compatible with high-speed automated assembly equipment and wave and reflow soldering methods, the EMI filters are available on standard tape and reel packaging. Pricing starts at $0.35 each for the W3F4 series in the 1206 case size. Lead times are from stock to eight weeks.
