A range of thick-film, non-inductive surge/pulse chip resistors with a continuous power rating of 1 W is available from TT electronics BI Technologies.
Designed to protect circuit components against high-voltage transients caused by incidents such as lightning strikes and power faults, these BSR resistors are produced in a standard 2512 package. In addition to protecting communications equipment, they are ideal for use in a wide range of pulse applications including solid-state switch snubber circuits and in-rush current limiting and capacitor charge/discharge circuits such as MOSFET and IGBT gate drives.
The BSR is also available in a 2W version. The resistors utilise a unique laser trim method that provides a tight resistance tolerance while maximising pulse handling capability. Resistance values range from 0.050 ohm to 10 Kohm with 1%, 2%, 5% and 10% resistance tolerance options.
Other features include a typical temperature coefficient of resistance of ±100ppm/°C for values above 10 ohm. Operating temperature range is -55 to +125°C.
