Announced by Syfer Technology is a range of high Q low ESR capacitors designed specifically for high frequency applications. The ceramic capacitors are available in two device sizes: 0505 and 1111, in capacitance ranges from 0.5pF to 100pF and 1pF to 1000pF respectively.
Syfer's design and manufacturing expertise exploits the fact that the ratio of capacitor length to width is one of the key factors determining total inductance. Therefore, a square device such as a 0505 or 1111 will have a lower inductance than a conventional rectangular style. The end result is a higher resonant frequency, making Syfer's newest devices highly suited to a wide range of applications including tuners, resonators, filters, oscillators, RF power amplifiers and tuning networks.
The ceramic capacitors measure just 1.4mm square x 1.27mm high (0505) and 2.79mm square x 2.54mm (1111). Rated voltage is 150V DC for the 0505 size and 50 to 500V DC for the 1111 size. Operating temperature range is specified from -55 to 125°C. Insulation resistance at 25°C is better than 100 Gohms and at 125°C is better than 10 Gohms.
The high Q low ESR devices are terminated with tin over nickel and are fully compatible with lead-free solders, complying fully with the RoHS and WEEE Directives. The capacitors can be supplied taped and reeled or in bulk format.
