Irvine, Calif. BivarOpto, the Optoelectronics division of Bivar, Inc., has introduced a new wedge-based warm-white LED series that features the accurate color output of industry standard T-1 3/4 (5 mm) wedge-based incandescent bulbs. The company says by offering the same output brightness and hue as incandescent lamps, the new LEDs can be used in a host of new applications where the longer life LEDs can lower replacement and overall systems maintenance costs.
New applications include telecommunications, switching systems, elevators, automotive instrument panels, annunciators, indicators, and miniature lighted pushbutton switches. The new LEDs can also be used indoors for visual illumination.
Housed in a 0.80-in. (length) x 0.230-in. (diameter) footprint, the new WB5 Series features a flat faced lens design with an internal reflector for enhanced light intensity while also providing a 180° wide-viewing angle for optimal display efficiency. The new LEDs also feature a warm-white color temperature at 3500 Kelvin, and is rated at 2.5 Vdc to 48 Vdc. Custom colors and electrical characteristics are available.
The WB5 Series offers a solid-state design, which makes it suitable for applications where vibration, electrical and mechanical shock, and heat typically reduce service life. The series is rated for service life up to100,000 hours. The new LEDs require low operating current of 10 to 30 mA typical, which provides significant power consumption savings of 80% or more compared to incandescent lamps, said the company.
The WB5 series is priced from $0.64 each in quantities of 10,000. Delivery is from stock through the company's distribution network.
