Worcester, Mass. - Allegro MicroSystems' A8430 and A8431 DC/DC boost converters offer a low-profile solution for driving up to four white LEDs in series from a 2.5-volt supply, or five white LEDs from a 3-volt supply. "Not only does our A8430 QFN-5 drop in to the same footprint as SOT- and TSOT-23-5 packages, but it reduces the profile to just 0.75 mm nominal height," said Mark Gaboriault, strategic marketing director.
The A8430, in a 3-by-3 mm QFN-5 package, provides a programmable constant-current output at up to 36 volts. The A8431, providing up to 32 volts and in a 2-by-3 mm QFN-6 package, adds over-voltage protection circuitry. Output current, set with an external resistor, can be additionally adjusted with a PWM signal or DC voltage at the top of the sense resistor for dimming control.
The A8430 is priced at 47 cents each, and the A8431 is 53 cents each, both in 10k quantities.
