Malvern, Pa. Resistant to moisture, salt, and chemicals, the new low-profile, high-current IHLP inductor from Vishay Intertechnology can be used in automotive applications and other extreme environments. The new IHLM-2525CZ-01 series features the lowest DCR/μH for its package size 0.255 in. x 0.270 in. (6.47 mm x 6.86 mm) with a low 0.118-in. (3.0-mm) profile and excellent operation over a frequency range up to 5 MHz.
The IHLM-2525CZ-01 series is specified for saturation currents from 7 A to 60 A and typical direct current resistance (DCR) values from 1.5 milliohms to 102 milliohms. It is designed to handle high transient current spikes without saturation. With a 100% lead-free composite construction, buzz noise due to magnetostriction is reduced to ultra-low levels. A molded construction also gives IHLM devices a higher dielectric withstanding voltage that allows for enhanced protection against electrical shock, said the company. The flame-retardant encapsulant (UL 94V-0) provides resistance to corrosion and moisture along with a high dielectric rating.
The new inductor series offers an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C and is highly resistant to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration. In addition to automotive applications, the new inductors can be used in next-generation mobile communications devices, notebook and desktop computers, and servers. The devices will also be widely used in fixed-telecom power supplies, including point of load and (POL) and distributed power systems.
