Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has expanded its family of thin-film flat chip resistors with the introduction of the high-stability MCS0402 ultra-small, thin-film precision resistors in 0402 package sizes. Available with resistance values from 100 ohms(Ω) to 221 kΩ, the new Vishay Beyschlag devices offer the industry's widest resistance range for CECC-certified precision resistors at this size.
The MCS0402 precision resistors have a maximum voltage rating of 50 V and are designed to operate with film temperatures up to 125°C. Rated power dissipation is specified at 0.063 W, while insulation voltage is rated at 75 V (for one minute continuous). Precision characteristics include close tolerances of ±0.1 % or ±0.25 %, excellent overall stability (class 0.1 and 0.25), and temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) ratings from ±25 ppm/K to ±10 ppm/K.
The company said the superior precision and stability characteristics of the MCS0402 series have been achieved by combining an ultra-stable thin film resistive layer, high-quality contacts between the resistive and conductive layers, and an advanced, proprietary laser trimming method.
The combination of small size and precise, stable operation makes the MCS0402 resistors ideal for high-accuracy designs where board space is limited. Applications include telecom base stations, cellular handsets, test and measurement equipment, industrial systems, and consumer electronics products including high-end audio technology. The devices are also suitable for medical equipment and automotive electronics applications such as body electronics, security, engine management, and power supplies.
All of the devices in the new MCS0402 range are qualified according to EN 140401-801. These resistors are also fully compatible with tin-lead and lead-free soldering processes.
Pricing for the MCS0402 resistors range from approximately $0.05 to $0.20 in quantities of 100. Delivery is four to six weeks.
