Gowanda, N.Y. Providing designers with a surface-mount choke option, Gowanda Electronics has released a new series of RF surface-mount chokes designed for use in the lighting industry, specifically targeting starter circuits and electronic ballasts, and other applications where high-voltage handling capability is required.
The company said the design of the new HL 8527 chokes enables them to handle the high voltage spikes associated with these applications, and the surface-mount packaging is important for design engineers who prefer to use surface-mount components instead of leaded devices.
The HL 8527 series offers an inductance range (±10%) from 16000 to 55000 μH (at 79 kHz) with current ratings from 67 to 50 mA DC. Custom designs are available.
These chokes can also be used in any RF application where high inductance is required.
Applications include RF signal circuitry in communications equipment, medical diagnostic equipment and industrial process control equipment. They can also be used in security systems, instrumentation, bar code and laboratory analysis equipment, aviation equipment, navigation equipment, telecommunications and cable TV.
Pricing for the HL 8527 series is $.88 each in production quantities.
