St Charles, Ill. Perllo Technologies LLC and its manufacturing partner ECM Electronics Ltd. have introduced their new ECM63T transponder coil for direct tire pressure management system (TPMS) applications in the N. American automotive market. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has set a deadline by 2008 that requires all lightweight cars and trucks to have a direct TPMS.
Designed to perform in high shock and vibration environments, the ECM63T chip inductor contains a ferrite core and is packaged in a rugged liquid crystal polymer resin body. The antenna on the single-axis chip inductor is said to be the smallest currently available, measuring 6.3 x 3.2 mm.
Developed for low frequency 125 kHz operations, the coil features inductance values from 290 μH to 2.89 mH with a tight 2% tolerance. In addition to TPMS applications, the new device works in conjunction with next-generation radio frequency identification (RFID) applications such as key fobs, as well as other automotive safety and security systems.
Pricing starts at $0.16, depending on quantity. Delivery is eight weeks.
