Oslo, NorwayNordic Semiconductor ASA introduced the nRF24AP1, a single-chip 2.4-GHz transceiver that embeds Dynastream Innovations Inc.'s ANT wireless protocol; it is designed for cost sensitive and ultra-low power wireless personal area network (WPAN) applications in the sport/recreation, medical, industrial, and other wireless application marketplaces.
The nRF24AP1 integrates the radio, protocol, peripherals, inductors and filters. Supplied from +1.9 to 3.6 VDC, the device features 80 channels, 1Mbit/s air datarate, +0 dBm output power, and channel switching time of less than 200us. Manufactured using a 0.18 um process, it is housed in a lead-free 24-pin QFN package that measures 5 x 5 mm. Modulation is Gaussian frequency shift keying (GFSK) and the channel method is time division multiple access (TDMA). It is designed for -40 to + 85C operation. The protocol features uni-directional and bi-directional channel support with a message rate of greater than 100 messages/s. It supports star and peer-to-peer networks and private and public networking capability.
