Bolton, UKComtech Holdings Ltd announced the release of the μWEBox eRouter family with two products that enable Ethernet-based machines to communicate over public Wide Area Networks (WAN). The μWEBox eRouter GSM/GPRS Router connects Ethernet devices over wireless GSM/GPRS and The WEBox eRouter PSTN Router connects Ethernet devices over the public switched telephone network (PSTN).
The routers create a standalone network with its own Wide Area Network (WAN) access point to the public PSTN, GSM, GPRS networks and/or the Internet. The Ethernet port of the remote equipment is adapted by the router for WAN connectivity, which supports "Dial-in," "Dial-out," and "Always Connected" modes of operation.
Each box provides Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) encapsulation of TCP/IP data and supports network address translation (NAT), IP forwarding, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, DNS, UDP, PING and ARP protocols. Supporting ten simultaneous sockets, the routers are housed in a rugged aluminum enclosure and can be operated across an 8 to 40 volt power supply range.
The PSTN option supports Bell and ITU V.90 56Kbit/s operation and features V.42 error correction, V.42bis data compression, and a RJ11 connector. The GSM/GPRS option features CSD(9K6), HSCSD (19K2), GPRS (Class B 4+1 Class 8) operation and an on-board SIM holder.
Applications include stand-alone networks, remote isolated equipment (such as passenger information systems, traffics systems, security surveillance and industrial automation), leased equipment, network backup, and mobile equipment,
A development kit is available to simplify evaluation and aid design integration.
The μWEBox PSTN eRouter is priced at £ 249.00 each. It is available now. Click here for the WEBox GSM/GPRS data sheet. Click here for the WEBox PSTN data sheet.
