Hickory, NCCommScope, Inc. announced the availability of Xflex, the next-generation 50-ohm aluminum cable design for its wireless transmission line system. It is designed to provide superior performance, reliability and lower life cycle costs over the life of a wireless network as compared to traditional corrugated cable systems.
Xflex aluminum smooth wall foam dielectric cables are available in 1/2", 7/8", and 1-1/4" sizes. Based on published specifications, the company believes the cable will provide an 11% improvement in system attenuation compared to a typical 1-1/4" copper corrugated application, and a 9% improvement in system attenuation compared to a typical 7/8" copper corrugated application. For example, at 960 MHz, attenuation is 3.13dB/100ft or 10.27dB/100m with average power of 0.855 kW. The cables are fully backward-compatible with the company's line of wireless system connectors, tools and hardware accessories.
