Melbourne, F.L.Harris Corporation introduced the TRuepoint(TM) 5000, its next-generation microwave digital radio. Designed specifically to meet cellular carriers' needs for a single platform capable of serving a broad array of applications, the TRuepoint 5000 is serving as the backbone of Sprint's PCS wireless network in U.S. markets.
The TRuepoint 5000's software-selectable architecture enables switching between PDH and SDH applications and delivers service from 4 to 180 Mbits/s at frequencies ranging from 6 to 38 GHz. Software-selectable modulation includes 4, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256 QAM.
Featuring automatic and dynamic transmitter power control (ATPC/DTPC), the system offers a common platform that provides more than 20 years mean time between failures (MTBF). The SPU occupies a single rack mounting space for 1+0 configurations; two rack mounting spaces for 1+1 and 2+0 configurations. Flexible forward-error correction schemes optimize bandwidth and system gain. The system also provides built-in diagnostics and performance management capabilities.
It is optimized to work with the company's NetBoss network management platform, as well as its NetBoss EM element management system. These systems are designed to provide carriers, enterprises, and public safety organizations with a single point of control to effectively manage and maintain a full array of microwave, networking and broadcast products.
