Milpitas, Calif. California Micro Devices has launched its latest addition to its Centurion-based family of electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection devices for wireless handsets and LCD modules. Utilizing the company's proprietary Centurion Zener process technology, the CM1220 features a low input capacitance of 14 pF and protects against ESD strikes up to 15kV contact discharge in a space-saving chip scale package (CSP).
Available in 4- and 8-channel configurations, the new ESD protection array provides 15 kV protection from contact discharges, a level that exceeds the IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 standard. In addition, their low capacitance makes them suitable for protecting high-speed I/O ports such as LCD and camera data interfaces with a high level of ESD protection while preserving signal integrity.
The company also touts that the highly integrated device in a low-profile package offers a space savings of up to 50% versus discrete component implementations.
Currently sampling, the CM1220-04 and CM1220-08 devices are priced at $0.33 and $0.49 each, respectively, in quantities of 1,000. Volume production is scheduled for April 2005. Lead-free versions are available.
