Chino, Calif. American Bright Optoelectronics Corp. offers its Super NOVALED LED in a PLCC2 surface-mount package. The new design features high brightness in a wide range of color selections for a variety of backlighting applications. The devices are manufactured in compliance with lead-free RoHS materials and processes.
Measuring 6.0 x 6.0 x 1.5 mm, the new series is offered in the PLCC2 package to ensure reliable performance and quality conformance to JEDEC Moisture Sensitivity Level 2 specifications.
The Super NOVALED is available in two distinct families, capable of being driven at 50 mA, 120 mA, and 400 mA (InGaN), or 175 mA and 350 mA (AllnGaP), and can reach intensity levels up to 18,000 millcandela (mcd) for white and 11,250 mcd for yellow.
Color selections include blue and white, from 470 nm to 625 nm, a wide 120° viewing angle (flat lens) or 40° (dome lens).
In the off state the lens appearance is water clear (white is provided in a diffused lens appearance). Applications including signage, desk or work lights, stereo and instrument panel backlighting, and backlighting for larger screen LCD displays.
The company said the high light output at higher operating currents is due to the unit's low thermal resistance of about 20 K/W for Rth (j/s), which provides improved heat dissipation. The LED is suitable for both wave and IR reflow soldering.
The Super NOVALED series is priced from $ 1.00 each in production quantities. Delivery is from stock or the factory in special configurations.
