Towcester, UK Radstone Embedded Computing has announced the CP1A 6U rugged CompactPCI PowerPC single board computer (SBC), the first member of its PowerPact 6 product family. Based on the powerful, flexible and field-proven architecture and technology of the PowerXtreme PPC7D VMEbus SBC, the CP1A features the latest Freescale 7448 PowerPC running at 1.4 GHz and the Marvell Discovery III Integrated System Controller. The CP1A's I/O flexibility is enhanced by Radstone's new AFIX (Additional Flexible Interface Extension) daughter card, which offers new features via a plug-on module. Initial offerings in the AFIX form factor include AFIX1553 (dual channel, dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 interfaces) and AFIXSG (SCSI and Graphics Accelerator). For customers requiring features not currently supported by the CP1A, the AFIX daughter card is specifically designed to allow the implementation of wholly new functionality, in less time and at a lower cost than would otherwise be possible. The CP1A's I/O rich feature set also includes up to six serial ports, up to five USB 2.0 ports, up to 33 bits of discrete digital I/O, a parallel port and two PICMG 2.16-compliant Gigabit Ethernet ports.
