Parsippany, NJMicrolab/FXR has introduced a wideband 4.8 dB hybrid coupler for 700 to 2700 MHz cellular systems. The hybrids, available in either N or 7-16 mm DIN connectors, can be used to split a signal in a 2:1 ratio, or when combined with a 3 dB hybrid of similar bandwidth, form a 3-way hybrid combining network with 4.8 dB of loss.
The new hybrids provide better than 27 dB of isolation and low loss over the cellular frequency bands at powers to 120W and useful performance to 2700 MHz. The design provides a 1.8 dB loss in the main line signal and a 4.8 dB in the coupled line. A true three way combiner, with only 4.8 dB per path loss is formed when the 1.8 dB path is fed from a standard 3 dB Hybrid to combine with an input into the 4.8 dB path. The two unused outputs must be terminated with an appropriately powered 50-ohm load.
