Taufkirchen, Germany Huber+Suhner has launched SEMPER , claimed to be the world’s first self extinguishing EMP protector. The latest addition to the company’s lightning (LEMP) and Nuclear (NEMP) range, SEMPER self-extinguishing protectors offer a greater degree of safety and reliability than established gas capsule lightning devices by eliminating the risk of capsule “hold on” due to DC/AC line powering or high powered RF signals, which can render a system inoperable and destroy the protective capsule. The new devices also minimise system down time. Providing LEMP and NEMP protection for a wide range of civil and military applications, SEMPER protectors are of specific interest for applications that use DC/AC line power for remote signal amplification and processing, as well as high power RF transmissions. Their increased reliability and automatic recovery features mean SEMPER is ideally suited for remote installations, point to point/multi-point and defence/security radio applications. They are also well-suited to systems incorporating tower mount amplifiers/repeaters. The new protectors are available with all major connector interfaces and various mounting configurations. Field-replaceable, they deliver a simple, cost-effective upgrade path. Huber+Suhner GmbH , Taufkirchen, Germany. www.hubersuhner.com.
