Irvine, Calif.Embedded computing board maker ADLINK Technology announces a Green Product Policy. ADLINK's Green Product Policy is to build environmentally-friendly products.
Implemented in May of last year, the policy encompasses the purchase and use of products that are free of lead, as well as other hazardous materials. This means lead-free manufacturing and compliance with other environmental standards such as clean air and waste water acts.
Similar To RoHS
Similar to the European Union's RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive, ADLINK Technology's policy limits the use of hazardous substances. The policy applies to both the production process and to materials purchased from vendors.
"We work proactively with industry peers and suppliers to clarify standards and identify technologies and procedures that reduce the use of hazardous substances such as tin and lead solders," avows company president Jim Liu. "When all of the materials in a specific product are lead-free, we'll announce it as a green product."
The first green product from the company is its NuPRO-851 SBC (single board computer). It's built using completely lead-free components.
The NuPRO-851 is a full-size SBC packing Intel 915GV and ICH6 chipsets. It supports the Intel 90-nm-process Pentium 4 with VGA/LCD capability.
Liu says ADLINK plans to introduce more lead-free products this year. Two CompactPCI SBCs (dubbed the cPCI-6841 and the cPCI-6842), and two ETX modules (the ETX-333 and ETXp-IA533) will be available shortly.
A high-performance IEEE-488/GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) card, called the LPCI-3488, will be introduced later this year.
ADLINK is also ISO-140001 Certified. That impacts management by minimizing harmful effects on the environment caused by manufacturing activities. The certification also calls for continually improving the firm’s environmental performance.
