Myrtle Beach, S.C. Designed to address DC blocking issues from 15 KHz to 40 GHz in optical transceivers, the new GZ capacitor series from AVX Corp. offers resonance-free performance of <0.5 dB through at least 26.5 GHz for most applications.
Available in a wide range of sizes and capacitance values, the new GZ devices, manufactured using X7R dielectrics, combine high capacitance Ni-Au terminated MLCs for low frequency coverage and specially configured maxi dielectric single layer ceramics (SLC) to facilitate conventional surface mounting.
The soft termination makes the capacitors robust and capable of exceeding resistance to flexure stress tests normally applied to MLCs, according to the company. In addition, the company noted that the high temperature connection between the MLC and SLC results in a joint whose re-melt temperature will withstand all normal soldering processes without deterioration.
These new devices are designed to match .015 in. (0.381 mm) and .020 in. (0.508 mm) micro strip widths. Custom designs, including those to match wider strip lines, are available as well as wire-bondable designs for applications where strip line matching is not essential. Click here for the datasheet.
Pricing typically starts at $1.00 to $4.00, depending on quantities. Delivery is four to six weeks.
