Fullerton, Calif. A new series of shielded SMT power inductors from TT electronics BI Technologies Magnetic Components Division is said to deliver stable electrical performance even at elevated temperatures. Suitable for high-temperature applications where PC-board space is at a premium, the new high current, low-profile inductors are rated for operation up to 180 degrees C.
Designated the HM70 series, these power inductors feature typical inductance values from .70 to 2.10 μH (±20%, measured at 100 kHz), with DC resistance values from 1.05 to 4.71 mΩ. The inductors are available in seven package sizes ranging from 9 x 10.5 mm to 13.5 x 12.9 mm, with a board-mounted profile that ranges from 3.7 x 5.50 mm.
These HM70 surface-mount devices are specified for a maximum temperature rise of 50°C with a minimal change in electrical performance, and are designed to operate under full load conditions up to 130°C without derating a critical specification for design engineers whose circuits must perform under high temperatures, said the company. The maximum operating temperature range is -40°C to 180°C with derating for temperatures above 130°C.
These devices may be used in under-the-hood automotive and server/router applications that must operate in high temperature environments as well as compact VRM and dc/dc converter modules.
Typical pricing for the HM70 Series is .67 each in quantities of 10,000. Delivery is from stock to 10 weeks.
