Torrance, Calif. Seiko Instruments offers four new quartz crystals that may be used with real-time clocks and timers or as a clock source for micro-computers. They can also be incorporated into cellular phones, PDAs, radio communication equipment, and other portable equipment.
The new devices include the SSP-T7-F (7.0 x 1.5 x 1.4 mm), VT-200-F (2.0 x 6.0 mm), SP-T2A-F (8.7 x 3.7 x 2.5 mm) and NC-T3 (3.2 x 1.2 x 1.1 mm). These RoHS-compliant crystals are said to offer excellent shock and heat resistance capability and provide design flexibility for easy mounting and installation.
The ultra-thin SMD model SSP-T7-F is comprised of a plastic molded package with a highly reliable tubular-type quartz crystal, and is suitable for high-density surface mounting. The 32.768 kHz crystal offers a frequency tolerance of ±20 ppm. Load capacitance is 7.0 pF or 12.5 pF.
Model VT-200-F uses Seiko’s highly reliable photolithographic technology and features a compact tubular package. The 32.768 kHz VT-200-F device offers a frequency tolerance of ±10 ppm or ±20 ppm. Load capacitance is 6.0 pF or 12.5 pF.
Designed for measurement conditions of 5.0 V and 3.0 V, model SP-T2A-F features a plastic molded package that incorporates a tubular-type quartz crystal. The 32.768 kHz, ±20 ppm crystal offers a load capacitance of 6.0 pF or 12.5 pF.
Combining Seiko's photolithographic technology and new packaging technology, the ultra-small NC-T3 crystal is suitable for high-density surface-mount applications. The 32.768 kHz, ±20 ppm crystal provides a load capacitance of 7.0 pF or 12.5 pF.
The VT-200-F device is priced at $0.16; SP-T2A-F at $0.45; SSP-T7-F at $0.60, and NC-T3 at $1.20, in quantities of 10,000.
