Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology's newest addition to its IHLP family of high-current inductors touts the lowest direct current resistance (DCR)/μH available in a 0.402 x 0.402-in. [10.2 x 10.2-mm] package with a low 0.157-in. [4.0-mm] height. The new IHLP-4040DZ-15 inductor features DCR values as low as 0.50 mΩ at 0.19μH.
The new Vishay Dale IHLP-4040DZ-15 power inductor is designed for dc/dc converters in end products such as next-generation mobile devices, notebook computers, desktop computers, servers, and graphics cards, as well as low-profile, high-current power supplies and point of load (POL) converters. It will also be used in distributed power systems and to regulate power for field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).
In addition to providing the lowest DCR and highest current rating of any similarly-sized device, according to the company, the IHLP-4040DZ-15 handles high transient current spikes without saturation and operates over a frequency range up to 1 MHz. Saturation current and typical DCR values for the inductor range up to 44 A and from 0.50 mΩ to 5.20 mΩ, respectively, over an inductance range of 0.19 μH to 2 μH. Inductance tolerance for the new device is 20%. It's rated for an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C
In addition, the IHLP-4040DZ-15 is RoHS compliant and features a 100% lead (Pb)-free, shielded, composite construction that reduces buzz noise to ultra-low levels, said the company.
Pricing for U.S. delivery in 500-piece reels starts at $0.65 per piece in quantities of 10,000+. Samples and production quantities of the new IHLP-4040DZ-15 are available now, with a lead time of eight weeks for larger orders.
