Parvus Corp. has set its sights on vehicle security and surveillance applications with its new eight channel CTR-1471 PC/104-Plus JPEG-2000 encoder card.
With 16 general purpose I/O lines, the eight-channel video compressor module supports the enhanced features and quality provided by the JPEG 2000 (J2K) - ISO/IEC15444-1 image compression standard.
Designed to withstand extreme temperature operation (-40 to +85C) and high mechanical stress, the embedded PC/104-Plus board incorporates a dedicated wavelet transform engine, three entropy codecs, an onboard memory system and embedded RISC processors.
It processes images at a rate of 40M samples/sec in reversible mode, and at higher rates when used in irreversible mode and can handle eight NTSC / PAL / SECAM Analog Video Input Channels (for up to 8 cameras). It supports multiple compression rates including NTSC: 352 x 240 @ 120fps, 720 x 480 @ 30fps; and PAL: 352 x 288 @ 100fps ; 720 x 576 @ 25fps.
It incorporates features such as programmable picture size, position, panning, tilting, freeze, image scaling, and zooming as well as motion detection, independent for each video channel.
The CTR-1471 is now in stock and priced from $765/each in quantities of 100+ units. The unit is also available inside of Parvus’ new AlphaDVR system, a highly configurable embedded computer platform designed for digital video recorder (DVR) and general processing applications onboard buses, trains and other demanding mobile environments.
