Camarillo, Calif.—Power-One's 40-amp QME48 Series of quarter-brick DC/DC converters touts industry-leading thermal performance when compared to other
40-amp quarter-bricks, and most 40-amp half-bricks. The module, for communications and server applications, also boasts an MTBF of 13.9 million hours (as per Telcordia TR-332).
The QME48, with outputs from 1 to 3.3 volts in six basic models, delivers up to 37 amps at up to +70°C with just 300 LFM of cooling. No heat sink is required, and thus the low-profile (10.8 mm) module minimizes airflow shadowing to enhance cooling for downstream devices.
Additional features include a 36 to 75 VDC input range, differential LC-filter, no minimum-load requirement, remote on/off functionality, 100-volt input transient withstand for 100 ms, start up into pre-biased loads, remote sense, and output voltage trim. Input-to-output isolation is 2 kV. The module has output over-current, input under-voltage lockout, and input over-voltage shutdown protection.
These quarter-bricks meet the requirements of UL60950 and Class B conducted emissions per FCC and EN55022 when used with an external filter. The product specification sheet can be accessed by clicking here. The QME48 is priced at $48 each in 1k pieces. Evaluation units are usually available from stock. Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks.
