Tokyo, Japan Designed specifically for GSM mobile phones, FDK Corporation said its new AMF1005L series of multilayer low-pass filters is the industry's smallest of its kind in a 1.0 x 0.5 x 0.3-mm footprint.
Requiring high-frequency noise suppression, GSM mobile phone applications are demanding smaller and lower cost low-pass filters to replace conventional low-pass filter circuits, said the company. FDK said by using the new AMF1005L in these applications, they can reduce the number of devices required, simplify a circuit design, save board space and reduce cost. These devices are also RoHS compliant.
FDK said it was able to achieve the small size through the development of a new alumina ceramic material, the optimization of multilayer patterns, low temperature sintering technology and its expertise in high-frequency multilayer chip inductors. See key specifications in the following chart.
The AMF1005L devices are priced at approximately $0.10 each in the quantity of 1 million pieces per month. Delivery is four to six weeks, depending on quantity. Sample shipments begin in October 2005.
