Smyrna, Ga. Murata Electronics North America has developed a new surface-mount EMI suppression filter that boasts increased performance and a smaller footprint.
The new BNX022 measures only 12 x 9 x 3 mm and weighs 0.8g, making it significantly smaller and thinner than previous versions and other competitive filters. The trimmer dimensions are a result of advancements in capacitor materials and terminal formation technology, as well as improved packaging, said the company.
Providing noise suppression over a wide frequency range of 1 MHz to 1 GHz, the lead-free BNX0222 EMI filters have a rated voltage of 50 V and a current of 10 A. The enhanced EMI filter is also said to achieve the highest level of noise suppression among surface-mount type products, providing up to 60 dB of insertion loss.
Noise suppression in DC power supply lines helps improve equipment performance in a variety of entertainment, industrial and technology equipment including flat panel displays, DVD players and servers, said the company. Typically, these applications use leaded EMI suppression filters, but with increasing demands for higher current power supply lines coupled with the need to reduce circuit board space, it has made surface-mount EMI filters preferable in these applications.
Sample price for the BNX022 is $3.50. Delivery is approximately six to eight weeks.
